The Dance Factory has asked the Rotary Club of Montgomery and Rocky Hill Foundation to target $500 to the Breast Cancer Resource Center. OneNationUnited, which led at the April 1 checkpoint, will target $600 to Save The Children, and Ahn's Taekwondo has $150 going to C.H.O.P. at Penn Medicine Princeton Health.
All Teams are welcome – the more the merrier. As in previous years, all teams will be considered for certain awards, including Fastest Team (in the 5K Run), “Best Dressed,” “Cougar Award,” “Most Spirited”, "Most Courageous" and “Community Service” team.
Teams of at least 25 pre-registered members qualify to have a table in the sponsor tent to promote their groups and activities.
A $500 prize will go to the team with the highest number (minimum 25) of online preregistered members. The team with the second highest number of members will receive $350.00 and the third highest $150.00.
Don't forget . . . the team with the most online preregistered members as of 12:01am on April 1, 2019 will receive an extra $250. So register early!
The teams that wins these prizes (a.k.a. the “winning teams”) must direct the prizes to a not-for-profit charity of their choice. Thus, if a winning team represents a not-for-profit/charitable entity – for example, Mary Jacobs Library, Fire Company 1 or 2, Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, Special Olympics, an area church or synagogue, the MHS Marching Band or any other school clubs – that team could keep the prize itself. If the winning team represents a company or other for-profit entity, it may designate the money for a charity of its choice.
All team members must specify their team when they pre-register. The team name needs to be clear and every team member must use the same team name.
Teams may consist of runners, ramblers or a combination of both. Only the five fastest team members timed/scored are eligible for medals.
Team registrants do not need to actually participate in the event. Teams may include friends and other family members. as long as they pre-register under their proper team name. Therefore, teams trying to raise funds for their particular cause may wish to solicit registrants for their team from friends and relatives.
Every pre-registered member of every team will receive a T-shirt and goodie bag while supplies last. T-shirts and goodie bags are only available at packet pickup on Saturday at Princeton Fitness & Wellness or on the day of the event at Skillman Park.
No team registrations will be accepted on the day of the event. (Individuals who are not running or rambling with a team may, of course, register on the day of the race.)
Join the Fun!
Participants at all levels are welcome and many recreational runners enjoy the 5K distance. First-time participants are especially encouraged to join in this race, which continues to be a classic spring event on the Race Calendar of serious and recreational Central New Jersey runners and walkers.
The RUN WITH ROTARY 5K course has been certified in length and is officially sanctioned by the USATF-NJ Certification # NJ12013LMB. This certification also means that the Race results can be registered for state and national 5K records, should any be set. The 5K follows a loop route, mostly flat, with one small hill in the second mile. The last mile is gradually down hill with a flat finish. Water is available at the start/finish and at the two mile mark. The 5K route is “walker-friendly,” meaning that all types of walkers including race-walkers are welcomed.
Walkers are welcome and encouraged to participate in the 5K.
The 1 mile Ramble/Fun walk is for all ages and all abilities. It provides an excellent opportunity to get some exercise while participating in a worthwhile community event for a good cause. The organizers expect serious runners, not-so-serious runners, walkers, and all types of “ramblers” to enjoy spring time weather on the flat course through the beautiful scenery of Skillman Park. The original landscape and lay-out of the park was designed by noted Landscape Architect/Engineer Charles W. Leavitt in 1901. The Ramble starts at 10:00 AM, 35 minutes prior to the 5K Race. This enables various members of the same family to cheer for each other even if they are participating in different events.
RUN WITH ROTARY will have 94 Awards in many different categories. Awards will be given to the first three overall 5K female and male finishers. The “Montgomery Township/Rocky Hill Resident,” award category will be offered again this year for the first female and male Montgomery Township Resident 5K finishers. In keeping with the spirit of the day, every 1 Mile Ramble finisher will be presented with a special commemorative ribbon. All Ramble finishers can read their times on the computer printout available in the “Big Tent” following the event.
The 5K race is scored this year by Elite Racing Systems, whom will present results immediately following the conclusion of the race. Individual, age-group and team results are also available on the website the evening of the race. All events are held rain or shine. The official scoring is recorded by “Gun Time.” Net time is recorded as a convenience to the runners.
