The Rotary Club of Montgomery Rocky Hill is pleased to announce the
RUN WITH ROTARY a 5K Road Race/walk and Ramble/Fun walk. The events will
take place on Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Montgomery Middle
School, Upper campus (formerly Montgomery High School campus) at 375
Burnt Hill Road, Skillman, NJ (Montgomery Township).. The ramble/walk will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the 5K Road Race/walk at
10:00 AM. Proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Montgomery Rocky
Hill Foundation, a 501(c)3 not for profit organization that supports
countless local, national and international charitable efforts.
Formerly known as the “Run with Aimee”, this wonderful race was
initiated twelve years ago. After ten successful years the family
decided to end its participation in the race. The Rotary Club of
Montgomery Rocky Hill,at the urging of the Montgomery Township
Recreation Department, volunteered to maintain this important community
activity. CLICK HERE to visit the Run with Aimee website.
The RUN WITH ROTARY is presented this year by Long Motor Company (Volvo of Princeton, Bridgewater Volvo), Mason Griffin & Pierson, Princeton Orthopaedic Associates, UBS Financial Services, and Comcast . The 5K (3.1 miles) Road Race is a 500 point “New Balance (NB) New
Jersey Grand Prix” event. The NB Grand Prix is a prestigious series of
races of various lengths held throughout New Jersey. Grand Prix events
are selected by the New Jersey Section of the USA Track and Field
organization (USATF-NJ) and are based on strict criteria. Events
attract top quality runners from throughout the state as well as local
athletes. Runners do not need to compete in the Grand Prix to enter.
Participants at all levels are welcome and many recreational runners
enjoy the 5K distance. First-time participants are especially
encouraged to join in this race, which continues to be a classic spring
event on the Race Calendar of serious and recreational Central New
Jersey runners and walkers.
The RUN WITH ROTARY 5K course has been certified in length and is
officially sanctioned by the USATF-NJ under identification
“NJ97001GAN.” This certification also means that the Race results can
be registered for state and national 5K records, should there be any
set. The 5K follows a loop route, mostly flat, with one small hill in
the first mile. The last mile is gradually downhill with a flat finish.
Water is available at the start/finish and along the route. The 5K
route is “walker-friendly,” meaning that race-walkers and all types of
walkers are welcomed.
For the complete 5K course description and a map, CLICK HERE.
Walkers are welcome and encouraged to participate in the 5K.
The Ramble/Fun walk is for all ages and all abilities. It provides
an excellent opportunity to enjoy the event and to get some exercise.
The organizers expect serious runners, not-so-serious runners, walkers,
and all types of "ramblers" to enjoy the flat course while
participating in a community event for a good cause. The Ramble starts
at 9:30 AM, one-half hour prior to the 5K Race. This enables various
members of the same family to cheer for each other even if they are
participating in a different event.
Primarily local in scope when it first started, the RUN WITH ROTARY
Committee strives to continue the tradition of the race which has
become a Central New Jersey event that keeps its hometown appeal.
The 2008 RUN WITH ROTARY a community event in the twelveth year
(second year as Run with Rotary) for an early spring charity race, which
has grown immensely in popularity from its relatively humble
beginnings. Previously known as the RUN WITH AIMEE, The Rotary Club of
Montgomery Rocky Hill promoted the event in 2007. The inaugural 1997 RUN WITH AIMEE drew
358 registrants for the 5K Run and the One Mile Ramble. For 1998, a
computerized finish line, an Internet web site, additional prize
categories and a new “Team Competition” all helped to push registration
for the event to 750. The popularity of the race continued to grow,
with 801 registered for the 1999 version. New awards categories and
on-line registration increased the total to 954 in 2000. Participation
swelled to over 1,000 in 2001, when the race was the host of the USA
Track & Field Masters Womens Competition for New Jersey, and has
since stayed around 1,000.
THE TWELVETH YEAR...AND BEYOND!Return to Top
In 2009, the RUN WITH ROTARY plans to expand the 5K race and 1 mile ramble to include a 2.5 mile walk off the roadways and into the Montgomery Township Pathways. In addition, the Run with Rotary will continue to evolve and add community organizations for an early spring festival.

Team
Competition continues to grow and we are looking for another exciting year in team competition. The Team Competition is an excellent way
for co-workers, friends, neighbors and others to band together to add a
little ‘spark’ to the experience.” The teams can be competitive or
non-competitive. Teams need not be officially sponsored and they may
choose their own name.
We encourage non-competitive team formation. Bring your friends, design our own shirts, have some fun on this great day.
Teams must pre-register. There is no extra cost for team
registration. A team consists of at least three members and a maximum
of five members. Multiple teams from the same organization are
encouraged. The best three times of team members are scored. Please provide us with the name of your team on the application.
Teams may be formed in the all-Female, all-Male or Mixed categories.
A Mixed team must have at least one female and one male. For scoring
purposes, a Mixed team’s score will include at least one member of each
gender.
Individual team members can belong to only one team. Teams do not
need to work for the same employer or be members of the same
organization or club. Corporations, running clubs and other groups may
have multiple teams (with different names, of course).
A special pickup area for race bibs and goodie bags are reserved in
the Big Tent on Race Day for team members. Individual team members may
check in separately - you do not need to assemble as a team prior to
packet pickup.
We even have a special Team Application form for you! Click HERE for a copy. You do not need to use this form to send your entries to
us, but it may make it easier to assemble your team with all members on
one sheet. Please mail all team entries early enough to reach us by the
pre-registration cutoff. There is no team registration on Race Day.
Sorry, but there can be no substitutions or changes made on Race Day.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you are registering on-line as a Team Member,
please use EXACTLY the same name for your team so we can match you with
your teammates.
RUN WITH ROTARY will have 94 Awards in many different categories.
Awards will be given to the first three overall 5K female and male
finishers. The “Montgomery Township Resident,” award category will be

Foundation donates thousands of dollars to many worthwhile charitable
causes. Last year the Montgomery/Rocky Hill Rotary Club Foundation
contributed $50,000 in providing the local community, national and
international relief support such as:
- Assistance to local families in need and organizations
- Montgomery Food Pantry
- Indonesian/Thailand Tsunami relief
- Pakistan Earthquake relief
- Central American water improvement projects

- Contributions to the Hillsborough Food Bank
- Katrina Hurricane relief

MAKE A DONATION - HELP FEED OTHERS Return to Top
The 2008 RUN WITH ROTARY will
sponsor a collection to benefit the Food Pantry of Montgomery Rocky Hill and the Food Bank Network of Somerset
County. The Food Pantry is a non-profit public private partnership available directly to
those in need. “A specially marked collection area will be provided.
Runner’s donations are important and can help the less fortunate. Each
year we are grateful that participants bring more to share with those
less fortunate.”
The Food Bank at this time needs personal items (soap, toothpaste,
toothbrushes, shampoo, etc.), canned goods (fruit, soup, vegetables),
items in plastic or glass jars (peanut butter, jelly, condiments,
vegetables, tuna, jams) and boxed foods (cereals, instant potatoes,
etc.) “Peanut butter and jelly is the staple food of the Food Bank, but
all types of donations are gratefully accepted.”
Volunteers are needed to help with arrangements for the Ramble and
for the 5K Run. Last year, over 60 Volunteers were used to help with
registration, parking directions, race course guidance, water stops,
finish line assistance, etc. Mary DeCicco one of the Race Committee
members, said, “This is a worthy community project, and RUN WITH ROTARY
can utilize a wide array of talents.” To volunteer, call the Hotline at
609- 588-4205 or leave a message at the Website. The website also has a
special Volunteer Signup Sheet (CLICK HERE),
which can be faxed to 609-949-7211 or mailed to race headquarters (Box
333 Rocky Hill, NJ 08553). DeCicco added, “Volunteers of all ages are
welcome, as long as an adult accompanies younger ones. Groups as well
as individuals are encouraged to become volunteers.”
